Welcome to the Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) at SogangUniversity.
Issues related to the growing and deepening impact of worldwide interconnectedness and unprecedented challenges of economic uncertainty, coupled with other challenges in the political, social, and natural environment of mankind all demand the acquisition and exercise of a far different kind of knowledge, skills, and perspectives by a new class of global leaders equipped with both intellectual breadth and professional capacity.
For close to two decades today, Sogang GSIS has spearheaded efforts to achieve this goal by sponsoring globalized scholarship that advances understanding of the dynamics of international society. In effect, we are proud to offer superb interdisciplinary graduate programs that lead students to Master's and Doctoral degrees in International Relations (including National Intelligence and Security Track), International Trade, International Finance, and East Asian Studies (including Korean studies). With a curriculum specially structured to emphasize the values of critical thinking, we take our students to new heights of academic excellence, incapacitating them to take control of global affairs in the 21st century.
Since its establishment, Sogang GSIS, located in the heart of Seoul has attracted a diverse pool of highly qualified students from over 30 countries across six continents. We are well known for our student-oriented educational approach and justifiably pride ourselves in the degree of personal attention each of our students receives, ideally reflected in our small but cohesive class sizes and professor to student ratio that enables both to enjoy a family-like learning atmosphere. Importantly, we are unmatched in the provision of generous support programs to students, especially our financial assistance scheme that offers the highest percentage of scholarships, ranging from 25 - 100% of the total tuition fee.
Over the years, we have successfully established Dual Degree Programs and Student Exchange Programs with more than 20 leading universities worldwide, including some in USA, France, Germany and many others, that have made our school a strategic hub of global academic network. Through an extensive network of government, non-governmental and corporate bodies, we promote practical learning by linking our students to various internships worldwide. The relevance of our programs is easily validated by the marketability of our graduates who are pursuing prestigious careers in governments, corporations, and organizations all across the globe.
