  High Student Satisfaction

One of the things which makes Sogang GSIS special is the high level of student satisfaction.  The small class sizes, high lecture quality and family-like atmosphere all lead to a satisfied student body.  In comparison with other GSIS programs in Korea, you will find that student-professor interaction is of a much higher quality and that genuine relationships can be formed between both Korean and foreign students alike.

  Lecture Quality

The faculty members of Sogang GSIS are alumnus of some of the most famous universities in the world.  While other universities can make the same claim, this aspect, combined with class sizes of between 6 to 15 students, make for an impressive opportunity to actually discuss and engage with these distinguished lecturers.

  Family-like Atmosphere

Academics aside, Sogang GSIS is unique in that it encourages an environment conducive to nurturing friendships.  It is not just the small class size which allows this; there are many events and other opportunities where students can meet one another and get to know each other.  While academics are of course important, improving interpersonal skills, and hopefully learning about new cultures, is equally important.

  Location

Situated in the heart of Seoul, Sogang could not be more conveniently located.  Sinchon—the area of Seoul Sogang is in---is a bustling area filled with restaurants, department stores and bars.  There is always something happening here, and Sogang is right in the centre of it.

  Internship Program

One of the advantages and opportunities available to students of Sogang GSIS is the internship support program.
Sogang GSIS students are provided valuable internship information that are critical for students’ career development and encouraged to go for an internship during their vacation. In addition, Sogang GSIS provides financial support to the students. Students who served internship abroad are provided with financial support for airfare from $500 up to $1300 based on a distance to internship place and the performance evaluation from the internship trainer.

Sung Ha-eun, (8th Class)
(Right of Kofi Annan in the Office of UN Geneva)

Thanks to the support - financial as well as administrative from Sogang GSIS, I was able to participate in the internship program hosted by the Geneva UN Office located in Switzerland during the summer of 2001. That internship, though short, was a great opportunity to gain practical knowledge and understanding of international organizations and interact with students from all over the world. Through the relationships I developed during the internship period, I was able to obtain an opportunity to study at the Graduate School of International Studies

Kim Sun-Joon (14th Class)

I participated in an overseas internship program with the South Korean Delegation to the OECD in Paris, France organized by Sogang GSIS. It was a very unique opportunity for me to widen my understanding and knowledge on current and future international perspectives. It surely is one of benefits that Sogang GSIS students can enjoy.

I am scheduled to commence my career in Overseas Marketing section of LG Electronics' Mobile Communication Business Unit from Mid-June of 2006. Sogang GSIS's education, which emphasize on leadership, based on respect toward each individuals' personality as well as seeking of in-depth knowledge in academic terms, helped me to enhance my capabilities as a responsible member of the society.

I am scheduled to work in Samsung corporation, trading group from this coming July. As a trade-major student, I had compassion toward international business and trading works. Education provided by Sogang GSIS enables me to cumulate relevant knowledge, as I start my first career in Samsung corporation.

I am currently working for the World Bank as a consultant. Sogang GSIS education, which gives focus on strengthening each individual's talent, enabled me to put a successful first step in the career at an international organization.

I am working at an International consulting company called NFO World Group - NFO Korea, Inc. My study at Sogang GSIS provided the fertile ground for me to be matured as a competitive member of society. Moreover, international oriented schoolmates of Sogang GSIS will be my most precious assets in my social life, not only in school life.

I am serving as procurement manager at SK Global fashion. I am certain that Sogang GSIS courses with its ideal combination of academic theorems and practical works are perfectly matching to the necessities of global corporations.

I am currently working at Toray Saehan, which is a 21 st century joint venture arising from investment exchange between Korea and Japan. The two years of my studies at Sogang GSIS truly provided me with at heoretical knowledge of international affairs, practical capability, and cognizance of international trends and norms that are required of all professionals.

Most of all, without dedicated guidance and continuous supports from faculty members of Sogang GSIS, I could never have reached my goal.

This is how Sogang GSIS graduates' job placement currently breaks down:
