Course Description : English 2 is designed for students to develop their academic reading and writing skills in English. Students will read a variety of articles related to their academic interests and issues and discuss the topics presented in them. Through these, they are expected to improve on their knowledge of academic vocabulary, frequent collocations, grammar, and writing styles, and their critical thinking abilities. They will also learn to express their ideas and opinions in writing with logic as they are guided with the writing process from paragraph to essay writing.

Methodology : Although this course is for reading and writing, students will also be given opportunity for speaking. The topics for reading and writing will be the source for discussion. Students will read various types of writings, engage in speaking through pre- and post-reading discussion questions, and write in response as homework. They are expected to actively participate in class activities: pair or group work, class discussions, and in-class writing using only English as a medium of communication.

Evaluation : Grades are based on :

40% Written tests or Quizzes
40 % Writing assignments: Paragraphs, essays, and journal
10 % Online activities
10% Class participation and attendance
